October 28, 2019 A $500,000 grant from the State of Illinois will help improve a stretch of LaSalle Drive that experiences frequent flooding as it winds through Lincoln Park.
43rd Ward Alderman Michele Smith and 12th District State Representative Sara Feigenholtz made the announcement at a community meeting on October 24.
The grant is from $50 million given to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources by the Illinois General Assembly in June to make improvements to parks in Illinois, including seven other parks in Chicago.

This project has been long awaited and has sparked great community interest, said Smith (left). These first dollars coming from the state will allow the community to begin planning and designing the space led by a conversation about their vision. |
