August 20, 2012 – North Avenue Beach may have gotten the bigger show but DuSable Harbor saw them first. Five U.S. Navy Blue Angels roar across Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon on their way to their second performance in the Chicago Air & Water Show.

More than two million people were expected over the two-day event. Farther south, along the Chicago River, crowds were smaller but boat traffic was up. Urban Kayaks was discouraging the inexperienced from renting its kayaks, according to a sign, “due to the very high volume of river traffic.”
