Serving the Loop and Near North neighborhoods of downtown Chicago
T4 filming this week at east end of Chicago River

August 19, 2013 – Residents and workers in the northeast corner of the Loop have been notified of filming this week for the new Transformers movie. A memo from the “Transformers 4 Chicago Location Team” was sent last week to building managers, businesses, and residents of Lakeshore East, a development east of Columbus Drive between Randolph Street and Wacker Drive.

Scenes will be filmed from 5 a.m. on Friday to 10 p.m. on Sunday on streets east of Michigan Avenue and south of Wacker Drive.

At times, Randolph Street, Columbus Drive, and other nearby streets will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles. A low-flying helicopter will be filming each morning between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. As usual, live stunts and pyrotechnics will be involved.

The Transformers crew has moved to Chicago from Detroit and will be here, according to the Chicago Film Office, through October 2. An action scene will be filmed on Friday near McCormick Place.

An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that filming would take place at a specific hotel in the northeast corner of the Loop.
