Serving the Loop and Near North neighborhoods of downtown Chicago

Photo by Steven Dahlman March 10, 2011 – Generally, Marina City is a well-maintained complex. But spelling and grammar are not taught at property management school.

Residents are often amused by the poor English in memos they receive from the management office, part of the Draper & Kramer empire. This week, a typo slipped onto a sign – one in each residential lobby – reminding residents to use, what should read, their key fobs.

Retired teachers, editors, and pretty much everyone noticed it immediately. While Marina City Online is not above typos – we routinely misspell one news source’s last name that, sadly, contains only three letters. But we wonder why the sign maker did not catch this one.

[A new, corrected sign was up by the following Wednesday.]
