August 6, 2014 – The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has not yet identified the man who apparently jumped into the Chicago River on July 25.

“The case is still pending,” a spokesperson for the medical examiner told Loop North News on Tuesday.

At about 10:45 a.m., a passenger on a tour boat saw a man fall into the Chicago River west of the State Street Bridge. Police and fire personnel pulled the man, described as being 40 to 50 years old, from the north side of the river. At 11:07 a.m., he was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital but died.

During this time, boats on the river were held back and traffic on the bridge was rerouted.
