Dick’s turns 25, throws charity benefit
|
September 26, 2013 (Left) Radio/television personality Erich Mancow Muller managed a tie but eventually lost a rock-paper-scissors tournament Wednesday evening at Dicks Last Resort. |
The tournament was part of an evening of charity-benefiting entertainment to help the River North bar/restaurant celebrate its 25th anniversary. Only the past five years have been at Marina City. Dicks started in the River East Art Center at 435 East Illinois Street.
Based on the hand game (rock beats scissors but paper beats rock), the tournament was won by Jenna Herhold (at left in above photo), who defeated a series of challengers to compete against Muller.
One of the challengers was Alderman Robert Fioretti, whose second ward is a little south of both the old and new locations but presented owner Steve Schiff with an official resolution, adopted by the Chicago City Council, congratulating Dicks on its 25th anniversary.
Hosting the benefit for Starlight Childrens Foundation were Muller and Aly Bockler of WCIU-TV. Physician, author, and television personality Dr. Ian Smith was scheduled to co-host but had to travel to Los Angeles for a taping of the TV show The Doctors.
