Dick’s Last Resort on course for Marina City

December 12, 2007 – The general manager of Dick’s Last Resort says the River East bar and restaurant is on schedule to move to Marina City next April or May. Plans have been submitted to the city with an application for a construction permit, and Albert Shelton says they are currently waiting for approval.

Dick’s applied for a liquor license on November 14 and so far city officials have received no objections.

Dick’s Last Resort will occupy space in the southwest corner of the lower concourse level, seen here from the Dearborn Street bridge.

A neighbor of Navy Pier since 1988, Dick’s Last Resort is moving due to increased congestion in the area and to be closer to major hotels and convention facilities.

According to demographics presented to the MTCA in August, guests of Dick’s are typically in the 35-49 age range and have a household income that exceeds $100,000 per year.

Dick’s will be open every day from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.

On the waterfront behind Dick’s Last Resort on Wednesday, young guests of Dick’s and local media greet Santa, who arrived by police boat accompanied by the Chicago Bears mascot.

Dick’s hosted 75 children from disadvantaged families on the near north side. Students from The Chicago Academy for the Arts sang Christmas carols.
