Crane operator’s photo book published

August 22, 2009 – What started as a few photos on a Web site has turned into an actual hardcover book. “Chicago: A View From The Top” has been published, showcasing about 100 photographs by Ken Derry, taken as he helped build Trump International Hotel & Tower. Derry is a tower crane operator for McHugh Construction.

Using a modest digital camera, Derry captured unique views of downtown Chicago from his perch atop the city’s highest tower crane. Marina City shows up in at least three of the photos.

The book was designed and produced by Marie Gilbert, a graphic designer.
