Cubs victory challenges CDOT traffic planning

Deutsch LA

March 11, 2012 – Sorry, we were caught up in the fantasy of the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. Marina City is part of the 60-second dream brought to life by a Los Angeles advertising agency. The television spot is for Sony’s “MLB 12” PlayStation 3 video game, which was released on March 6.

Here, a mostly digital but nonetheless celebratory crowd jams the streets and bridges along the main branch of the Chicago River. We hate to spoil the fun by nit picking but you will probably notice cars are going east in the westbound lanes of Wacker Drive. Of course, the Cubs did just win the series.

155 extras helped film the ad in one night in February. It was directed by Matt Aselton. The ad agency, Deutsch LA, is perhaps better known for their Volkswagen spots, including Das Auto and The Bark Side, which won 15 industry awards last year.
