Concrete restoration worker injured

October 8, 2010 – A man working on the concrete restoration project at Marina City was seriously injured on Monday morning.

At 7:07 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department was notified of a victim in the east tower who was bleeding. The unidentified man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Quality Restoration Inc., of Wood Dale, Illinois, is working to finish the $1 million project this year. Using “swing stage” scaffolds, small teams of workers repair problem areas in the exterior concrete that were identified during inspections in 2006 and 2007.

According to an employee at Marina City who did not want to be identified, the worker “had an epileptic seizure a few minutes before getting on to the swing stage.”

Voicemail messages left with Quality Restoration Inc. were not returned.
