Check, Please! reviews Amano

January 8, 2010 – Calling it “a hidden gem in downtown Chicago,” Human Resources Manager Andy Katzman led this week’s edition of WTTW’s Check, Please! to Amano Italian Trattoria at Marina City.

Hosted by Alpana Singh, the show features reviews of Chicago restaurants by everyday people.

About 75 people attended a viewing party Friday evening at Amano. Owner Dan Sachs says the Check, Please! segment was taped last summer.

Katzman liked the wine list at Amano, saying it was easy to understand. “You don’t feel like an idiot if you‘re asking a question. The flavors and the descriptions are written really well, and I think it’s a very good wine restaurant if you want to be incredibly adventurous [or] if you just want to try something very simple to complement the food.”

Another guest, Colin Gelfer, liked the bar scene, pizzas, and appetizers. Dorothy McHale liked the wine selection but not the prices.
