May 9, 2014 – JPMorgan Chase confirmed on Friday it would close its branch at Marina City. A Chase manager says the branch will close on Saturday, August 9.

The location at 340 North State Street will be consolidated with a new branch location at West Kinzie Street & North Clark Street. That is the location of Greenway Self Park, an 11-story environmentally friendly parking ramp with helical turbines that opened to the public on December 17, 2009.

The Chase branch has been at Marina City for more than eight years. In 2006 it was part of commercial property that was sold to LaSalle Hotel Properties for $114.5 million.

Christine Holevas, a Chicago-based spokesperson for Chase, pointed out there are four other branch locations within a half-mile of Marina City.

On December 5, 2008, the Chase branch at Marina City was one of nine banks robbed by Lance Dennie, nicknamed the “Red Line Robber” by the FBI. Dennie robbed the bank twice, coming back on March 10, 2009. He is currently serving an 11-year term at a federal correctional institution in Texas.
