Marina City residents notice when sirens get louder and louder and then stop right outside one of the towers. This time, the emergency was at Westin Chicago River North, across Dearborn Street from the west tower. According to Chicago Fire Department, someone became ill in the hotel lobby at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. It is normal for a fire truck to accompany emergency medical technicians.

The last time CFD visited Marina City was on August 28, to extinguish a small fire on a Friday evening in the west tower. According to an announcement made to residents at 10:27 p.m., the fire was in the bottom of the garbage chute. Two announcements were made, urging residents to stay in their apartments.
