It only happens every few years, but Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse has a new sign featuring a caricature of the famed baseball broadcaster. This one has Caray offering a cold one in front of an updated Chicago skyline. It took about three weeks to paint the sign, which is paid for by Budweiser. Lee Projansky, General Manager of Harry Caray’s, says he selected from several design suggestions. Working from black and white pencil drawings, the painter applies paint directly to the building.

Projansky says in the eight years he’s been with Harry Caray’s, he’s seen three ads. “When I first started it was a Pepsi ad. I think it was a Bud ad before that.” The restaurant is located on the same block as Marina City. (Click on image to view larger version.)
