Marina City depicted in botanic exhibit

December 22, 2007 – For the sake of argument, let’s say that Marina City was a few feet high and made of natural plant materials. What would it look like?

The Chicago Botanic Garden has given this some thought and included Marina City in its popular holiday exhibit, “Wonderland Express,” on display in Nichols Hall through January 6.

Described by the Garden as “a winter wonderland of twinkling lights, garden-scale trains, miniature Chicago landmarks, beautiful horticulture displays, and indoor snowfall,” Wonderland Express features buildings, tunnels and bridges that have been hand-crafted with natural materials. Twigs, bark, leaves, acorns and pebbles were used to represent more than 80 Chicago landmarks.
