Bollywood wraps river shoot

Photo by Steven Dahlman September 17, 2012 – (Left) Indian actor Abhishek Bachchan performs a scene shot on the Chicago Riverwalk Sunday afternoon.

Bachchan stars as a police officer in Dhoom 3: Back in Action, an Indian “Bollywood” movie being filmed in Chicago. A crew shot the actor as he ran down steps and all but jumped over the side, something a stunt performer did minutes earlier, landing on large padded mats.

There were no helicopters but filmmakers spent a second and final day on, under, and near the Wabash Avenue Bridge. Scenes on the Chicago River involved a variety of high-speed watercraft. It was a wrap for the river but filming for Dhoom 3 will continue in Chicago through December.

The camera, wrapped in plastic, is at the end of a boom extending from the boat at left. The scene was filmed just east of Marina City, between the Wabash Avenue and DuSable Avenue Bridges.
