Serving the Loop and Near North neighborhoods of downtown Chicago

July 30, 2020 – It took five years, but the City of Chicago has finally succeeded in getting Bottled Blond closed.

42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly told constituents on July 28 that the River North establishment has voluntarily surrendered its business and liquor licenses and is now permanently closed.

Bottled Blond called itself a “pizza restaurant” but Reilly says it was operating as a nightclub in violation of city ordinance and had caused “serious safety and quality of life issues.”

“The city convened close to 100 meetings, either for community mediation or punitive hearings, to discipline this irresponsible business for their actions,” said Reilly (left).

“Two separate license discipline cases resulted in revocation of Bottled Blonde’s business licenses. Unfortunately, throughout this process, the Circuit and Appellate Courts allowed Bottled Blonde to stay open while they appealed their case.”

Reilly says no new tavern or late hour liquor licenses will ever be approved anywhere on the block where Bottled Blond was located, due to a liquor license moratorium.
