BIN 36 and its wine list in national ‘top 100’

Photo by Steven Dahlman October 26, 2012 – Five million foodies have spoken and Marina City’s BIN 36 has made a list of the “top 100 restaurants with the most notable wine lists in the United States.”

OpenTable, an online restaurant reservation service, based its list on reviews submitted for more than 15,000 restaurants. BIN 36 was the only Chicago restaurant on the list, part of OpenTable’s 2012 Diners’ Choice Awards.

In 2008, Gourmet magazine declared BIN 36 Wine Director Brian Duncan Chicago’s “Wine Director of the Year.” In 2009, a New York-based arts and culture magazine, BlackBook, put the restaurant on its list of “top spots for New Year’s Eve.” Later that year, Bon Appetit had BIN 36 on its Top 10 list of “best in-store dining spots.”

BIN 36 has been at Marina City since 1999. According to owner Dan Sachs, the name comes from a combination of what wine is stored in and “a lucky number.”

Also announced this week were places on OpenTable’s list of “top ten restaurants fit for foodies.” Graham Elliot was on that list twice, for his River North location and for Graham Elliot Bistro in the West Loop.
