Marina City appears in new trailer for The Dark Knight

December 18, 2007 – July 18 is the release date for the Warner Bros. Pictures “Batman” film shot in Chicago this year, including scenes near Marina City.

The Dark Knight

The above frame from a new trailer for “The Dark Knight” shows both residential towers in the background, behind actor Christian Bale, who stars as Batman and Bruce Wayne. Shot from an upper floor of Hotel 71, parts of The Westin Chicago River North can be seen behind Marina City, along with the distinctive clock tower of Reid Murdoch Center to the left.

Rich Moskal, Director of the Chicago Film Office, says there was also some filming at the Trump International Hotel & Tower site.

According to Prime Group Realty Trust, the owner of 330 North Wabash (formerly IBM Center), a film crew was at its building for about a week in August. They filmed scenes in the lobby and on the third and 13th floors, as well as outside on the south plaza.

In the film, according to IMDB, “With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.”
