Marina City resident attacked on State Street

December 12, 2011 – A Marina City resident returning home from a bar late last month says he was struck and kicked by two men on State Street.

It happened on November 23 at about 9 p.m. in the 300 block of North State Street. The 43-year-old man told police he was intoxicated when two younger men approached from behind and struck him on the back of his head. After he fell to the ground, the suspects then kicked him in the head.

The men are described as African-American, 18 to 29 years old, and one of them was wearing a dark blue jacket with white lettering on the back, possibly four plain capital letters.

Police in the 1st district south of the Chicago River did have a suspect in another incident with a similar description. While police classified this incident as a strong-arm robbery, the report does not say what was taken.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
