Guardian Angels offer safety tips at State & Grand

Photo by Steven Dahlman September 24, 2013 – (Left) Two members of the crime-fighting group Guardian Angels hand out safety tips on Tuesday afternoon at State Street and Grand Avenue, not far from where three strong-arm robberies were reported recently. (Click on image to view larger version.)

Take off headphones, put away electronic devices, and be aware of surroundings, advises the group – and do not speak to strangers or answer their questions. Chicago police have recommended residents stay in well-lit areas at night and if possible, not walk alone.

Three Guardian Angels – Miguel Fuentes, the group’s national director, Josh Tucker, and Kenneth Dosie – handed out flyers and talked to passers-by for about four hours on Tuesday, then patrolled the area until 1 a.m.
