AMLI tower groundbreaking scheduled for October

September 28, 2011 – Groundbreaking for the 50-story, 409-unit AMLI River North apartment tower is scheduled for October 17, the CEO of AMLI Residential Partners confirmed on Wednesday.

At the corner of North Clark Street and West Hubbard Street, the building will be north of Greenway Self Park and west of Marriott’s SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn.

Founded in 1980, AMLI is a privately owned real estate development company. According to its website, AMLI owns or has an investment interest in $9 billion worth of real estate. Its residential portfolio includes 61 apartment communities in 11 locations across the U.S. In the Chicago area, AMLI owns 3,866 homes in ten buildings, including AMLI 900 in the South Loop.

The 12,617 square foot site is being leased from Friedman Properties, which in turn will lease from AMLI about 4,500 square feet of retail space at street level.

Construction is expected to finish no earlier than April 2013.
