Amano re-opening pushed back

February 3, 2009 – Owners of Amano Italian Trattoria say they need more time to repair damage caused by a water pipe burst, and now plan to re-open the Marina City restaurant no later than the first week of March.

Bitter cold is probably to blame for a ruptured pipe on January 16 that damaged floors at Amano, located on the west side of Hotel Sax. The water pipe was in the ceiling of Amano’s dining room.

Owners Joanne Chessie and James Terlizzi say replacement of the floors has started, as of this week. The wood floors have to be replaced to make sure there is no mold.

Another pipe burst near the north side of the commercial platform, damaging the floors of the MTCA meeting room and adjacent offices. The high temperature that day was three degrees, reached at 11:59 a.m. The low had been minus 18 at 7:57 a.m.
