21-Aug-17 – Eleven robberies in the Gold Coast, River North, and Streeterville neighborhoods are blamed on two men, according to a community alert issued by Chicago Police Department on August 17.

In each case, a robber approached from behind, grabbed the victim’s phone, and ran away on foot, bicycle, or in four incidents, a white Cadillac.

Between August 6 and August 11, seven such robberies were reported in River North, three in the Gold Coast, and one in Streeterville.

In River North, they happened on East Hubbard Street between State and Rush, North Michigan Avenue between Ohio and Ontario, North Orleans Street between Kinzie and Hubbard, East Grand Avenue between Rush and Wabash, West Kinzie Street between Wells and Franklin, and twice on East Illinois Street west of Columbus Drive.

In the Gold Coast, one robbery was reported in the 600 block of North Lake Shore Drive and two in the 200 block of East Delaware Place.

The robbery in Streeterville was on East Ohio Street between St. Clair Street and Columbus Drive.

One of the robbers is described as black, 15-20 years old, about five feet 11 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with dreadlocks. The second is described only as black, 18-24 years old.
