21-Dec-16 – Though homeless or at risk of homelessness, StreetWise magazine vendors had a good day at a fundraising event this month that was hosted by McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum.

Selling t-shirts custom-designed by 15 local artists, the vendors raised $7,000. Another $6,000 was raised online, according to Friends of the Chicago River, which operates the bridgehouse and museum.

The December 8 event, Give A Shirt, was organized by Daily Planet Productions, a video, animation, and motion graphics studio.

Scott Marvel “We’ve been wanting to give back to the community as a company and this seemed like the perfect way to do it,” said Daily Planet president Scott Marvel (left).

Also sold were tote bags, notebooks, posters, and hand towels.

StreetWise vendors buy magazine issues for 90 cents and sell them on the street for $2 each.
