Police warn of burglaries and attempted luring

2-Mar-17 – Chicago police are looking for a man who made “inappropriate remarks” to three girls near Franklin Fine Arts Center, a public school for the fine arts near the Gold Coast neighborhood.

On Tuesday at about 12:30 p.m., the man was walking north on Wells Street when, according to police, he made the remarks and “attempted to lure the three girls toward him.”

He is described as a black male, 50 to 60 years old, six feet tall, and missing two front teeth. He was last seen wearing a black hat, red jacket, dark gray sweatpants, and white gym shoes.

Police were also warning construction sites in the Loop of recent burglaries. Three such burglaries were reported at construction sites last month on West Wacker Drive near the Chicago Riverwalk, West Lake Street, and South Wabash Avenue. Tool boxes and office trailers were pried open and items were taken.

And police are warning retail stores and restaurants north of the river about recent break-ins. Glass doors and windows were broken to gain access to the businesses last month, all in the late night and early morning hours.

Three burglaries were reported in the 500 block of North LaSalle Street – on February 8, 21, and 27 – and two were reported in the 300 block of West Hubbard Street – on February 15 and 28. The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion and a goatee.
