22-May-17 – Traffic congestion in Streeterville could ease when McClurg Court changes from a one-way to a two-way street between Ohio and Ontario.

The change was recommended by Chicago Department of Transportation, which conducted a traffic study at the request of 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly.

“This change is expected to improve residential and business access and reduce circuitous traffic in the neighborhood,” wrote Reilly in a May 10 letter to Streeterville residents and business owners.

Construction was scheduled to begin last week. Reconfiguration includes changing traffic signals, pavement markings, other signage, and installing ADA ramps. McClurg Court will remain open to vehicles during construction. Some sidewalks will be closed but pedestrians will have access to buildings.

The switch to a two-way street is tentatively scheduled for June 12.
