HoJo site development to be discussed at public meeting

bKL Architecture 12-May-14 – (Left) A 38-story apartment tower proposed for 720 North LaSalle Street in River North. That is the current location of Howard Johnson Inn Chicago Downtown.

Chicago-based Mac Management and Magellan Development Group want to replace the iconic motor hotel with a 298-unit luxury apartment building designed by bKL Architecture.

Stretching an entire block of West Superior Street from North LaSalle Street west to North Wells Street, the 31,472 square foot complex would include 10,557 square feet of retail space and an 80-foot-long public park.

River North Residents Association and 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly are hosting a public presentation of the proposed development. The meeting will also cover a proposal for 167 West Erie Street.
