Dearborn bridge closed Monday for ‘Chicago Fire’ filming

13-Jan-17 – Action for the NBC series Chicago Fire returns to Dearborn Street on Monday. From Wacker Drive, north to Kinzie Street, Dearborn will be closed from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. This includes the Dearborn Street Bridge over the Chicago River.

Chicago Department of Transportation suggests motorists and pedestrians use State Street instead.

Filming permits for Monday specifically mention Marina City. One permit shows Marina City will be filmed from the Park Millennium, a 57-story condominium in the Lakeshore East neighborhood. Another permit lists the location of filming as Hotel Chicago, located at Marina City, but a manager at the hotel says there will not be any filming there. Residents of Marina City say they have been told filming will take place in the west tower parking ramp.

Chicago Film Office did not respond to a request for clarification.

The TV series, now in its fifth season, has shot on Dearborn Street before. On August 9, 2012, a scene was filmed on Dearborn just south of Kinzie Street. Two cars on the west side of the street were made up to look like window-washing equipment had fallen from 353 North Clark.
