23-Nov-17 – A fight between a restaurant manager in River North and a delivery person was over a food order not being ready, according to Chicago police.

The altercation happened on November 6 at about 5:45 p.m.

The delivery person arrived by bicycle at the restaurant in the 300 block of North Dearborn Street to pick up an order. When told the order was not ready, the courier “became verbally abusive,” according to police, said he was not going to wait, and walked out to the sidewalk.

A manager at the restaurant went outside to tell the courier he would check on the order. The delivery person tried to spit on the manager but missed. The two argued and the driver threatened to hit the manager with a bicycle lock. When the delivery person pushed the manager, the two started fighting, each hitting the other in the face “multiple times with closed fists.”

They were fighting when police arrived. Both had scratches on their faces. One was bruised, the other had a cut lip.

Otherwise, there were no serious injuries. The manager declined to press charges. The delivery person told police he “over-reacted.”

Police did not name the restaurant. The block has at least four restaurants, all located in the Marina City complex.
