16-Oct-17 – A South Side man who was accused of an aggravated robbery in Woodlawn this summer is now charged with two violent robberies north of the Loop this week, including one on the Northwestern University campus.

On October 8 at around 8 p.m., according to Chicago police, 18-year-old Rashawn Duniver and others attacked a 22-year-old Northwestern law student in the 700 block of North Fairbanks Court. Duniver allegedly punched the victim in the face, knocked him to the ground, and continued to beat him until the man gave up his mobile phone password and laptop computer.

A 14-year-old girl has also been arrested for the mugging. She is charged with one count of felony robbery.

The attackers, including two men still at large, ran away while a witness summoned help from a campus callbox. The witness then walked the victim to Northwestern’s nearby hospital for treatment.

Prosecutors say Duniver and unidentified co-offenders carried out a similar robbery a half-hour later in the 800 block of North Dearborn Street, with Duniver beating a 25-year-old man until the victim provided his phone password and credit cards.

Rashawn Duniver Duniver (left) turned himself in to police on Saturday after surveillance images of the Northwestern suspects were made public. He is now charged with two counts of felony robbery. A judge set his bail at $40,000.

Chicago police records show that Duniver, who lives in the Chatham neighborhood about 11 miles south of the Loop, was charged with aggravated robbery related to a holdup in the 6700 block of South Rhodes Avenue on June 9.
