How safe is your block? If you live in the Fulton River District, Gold Coast, Loop, Near North, New East Side, River North, or Streeterville neighborhood, you now have quick access to information from Chicago Police Department crime incident reports going back to 2002.

Enter a block and how far back you want information, and for each reported incident see the date, time, location (street, residence, etc.), description, whether there was an arrest, case number, and more. Click a button and get an analysis of the selected crime on the selected block – number of incidents reported, percentage of incidents in which there was an arrest, and locations at which the crime was reported the most. Charts include incidents by year, month, day of week, and hour of day.

Another button does the same for all crime on the specified block. Number of incidents going back to 2002, percentage of incidents in which there was an arrest, percentage that were classified as “domestic,” percentage that were classified as a more serious “index” offense. Averages for the entire ward are included so you can see how your block compares.

River North Restaurant Guide is a summary of restaurants in the River North neighborhood of downtown Chicago that belong to the OpenTable network. OpenTable is a leading provider of free, real-time online restaurant reservations.

For each restaurant, the guide displays a photo or logo, name, street address, telephone number, cuisine, dining style (casual dining, casual elegant, or fine dining), and price level ($30 and under, $31 to $49, or $50 and over). You may select to display just one dining style, price level, or cuisine.

The guide links to OpenTable to display more information about a restaurant such as its hours. You may click to display a map, visit the restaurant’s website, make a reservation, and in many cases see the restaurant’s menu.

Also displayed is any available data from the City of Chicago’s Department of Public Health about recent food sanitation inspections of the restaurant. This includes the date, type of inspection (e.g., “sample collection”), and results (e.g., “pass with conditions”). This information is updated weekly.
